No WebUI?

Mon Mar 03, 2008 6:20 am
I'm using Debian Etch, minimal install. I installed Ktorrent 2.5.5 for KDE 3.5.5 and when I run it there is no option for the WebUI in the plugins menu. I figure I'm probably missing something, some dependency or whatever, so could someone give me an idea what that might be? I'd appreciate it.

You don't see the webinterface plugin in the list of plugins ?

I think the problem might be that when I start ktorrent, version 2.0.3 starts. How do I get it to use 2.2.5?

You can either:

1) apt remove/purge old ktorrent package like:
# aptitude remove ktorrent
# apt-get remove ktorrent
etc. You've probably installed self-compiled ktorrent to /usr/local, but old version in /usr takes preference when you run it.

2) Read here how to upgrade ktorrent on etch. Uninstall self-compiled ktorrent from your system in such a case. If you have problems with packages, PM me.

Alright that did the trick, now I need to specify where the Php executable is so I can use the webui. I looked around and can't find anything that I can readily identify as an executable..

Install what the package suggests - php5-cli

That works. Thanks for the help. I have on last question, how do I connect to the webui remotely? Sorry for all the n00b questions, but it's been ages since I used linux, and I've never used ktorrent.

In the browser:

http://external_hostname_or_IP_address_ ... ig_dialog/

If you're behind router, you'll need to forward the port first (or uPnP it, don't know how uPnP works)

I get a time out when I do that. I am forwarding the necessary ports, so I don't know what the problem could be.

Nevermind it works now. Rebooted and it started working.
