Yes since you're installing to the same prefix.

Okay done.

No you dont need to remove previous versions.
but if you had the distro release installed, then I recommend you do... but if you build from source each time you do not need to.

The error means that kdelibs5-dev installation or the package itself is broken.

not to ask stupid questions but you do have KDE4 installed, yes??

Oh and you need the KDE-libs-devel and a few other packages... I forgot which, But I posted them somewhere on the forums :)

My understanding was that Kubuntu 8.10 contained KDE 4.

Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:13 pm
now running make is giving me trouble:
Code: Select all
Downloads/ktorrent-3.2beta1/build$ make
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/build/buildd/kde4libs-4.1.2/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/lib/libkdecore.so', needed by `lib/libbtcore.so.8.0.0'.  Stop.
make[1]: *** [libbtcore/CMakeFiles/btcore.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2

I'm willing to bet that if you use the steps in my post here it should work fine for you.

It appears that the only difference is that you are using KDE so it shouldn't be an issue.

EDIT:

Steps 7-8 in my post should fix the first error at least, if not both.

Install the kdelibs-devel and maybe also the kdelibs3-devel packages
