I looked at the "Port Forwarding site", but I have a HughesNet satellite system. I have a modem on the desktop. I don't have a router, that I am aware of. Does this mean I CAN'T use Ktorrent on my Suse 10.3 and WindowsXP machine?

If the modem is connected directly to your PC, without any additional networking hardware in between, then there should be no port forwarding to be done.

You should see _no_ icon in the bottom left corner of KTorrent if your ports are accessible from outside.
