NewBie Question

Thu Mar 20, 2008 6:21 am
New to Ubuntu, new to torrents. I've installed ktorrent ok, and I was able to start downloading a file.
1st Question: File is about 700 mb, it has been running almost 24 hrs. Downloaded 550 mb. I'm not on a real fast connection but it is faster than that. Anyway to speed this up?

2nd Question: More disconcerting is that I've uploaded 177 mb. This is a new box, there is nothing on here except the Ubuntu base installation. No software, no date, no files of music. WHAT IS BEING UPLOAD? Where is it coming from?

3rd Question: Is Ktorrent restricted to a specific folder to upload from or is able to hunt around in the system? I assume the former, but then what is getting uploaded?

Thanks

The already downloaded parts are being uploaded.

Speed depends on many variables.

KTorrent only uploads files specified by the loaded torrent files. Of course these pieces need to be downloaded first.
