Is there some trick I should apply to make ktorrent uploading/connecting more fairly?

I'm downloading a file these are some example peers:
dl: 3,4KB/s up:32KB/s downloaded 2,9MB, uploaded 15,9MB
dl: 0,9KB/s up:23KB/s downloaded 6,4M uploaded 23,3MB

I was uploading at 66 KB/s and downloading at 6kb and had 6 or 7 peers. Updating the tracker didn't help. When I killed ktorrent and ran it again it started downloading at 35kb/sec allowing connections to much more peers (14)

By the way... why so few connections? I have upnp up and working but Leechers is 11(19) and seeders 3(6)
