torrent stuck in "not started"

Fri Apr 18, 2008 5:01 am
Hi,

I am using KT 2.2.1 with KDE 3.5.6 under Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, and I am in the middle of downloading a 20 Gb off a 60 Gb torrent. KT was downloading it nicely, but when I exited KT and re-started it later, the torrent is stuck in "Not Started" state, I can't start it at all! The Enqueue command have no effect too. The Update tracker button been all greyed out too. When I push the green play button, nothing happens at all, nothing, not even a brief delay like it does normally.

This had happened before, it won't start for days, after multiple attempts, then one day it just works.

What's up?

Thanks,
mark

First try to update to 2.2.5 by enabling the backports of Feisty Fawn.

Just upgraded to 2.2.5, same problem persist.

Sometimes I get these errors, could they be related?

Qt: Warning: QFile::writeBlock: File not open
Qt: Warning: QFile::writeBlock: File not open

... and when exiting ...

KCrash: Application 'ktorrent' crashing...
kio (KIOConnection): ERROR: Could not write data
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display ":1.0".
Failed to get list of devices
kio (KIOConnection): ERROR: Could not write data
kio (KIOConnection): ERROR: Could not write data
kbuildsycoca running...
Reusing existing ksycoca
kio (KSycoca): ERROR: No database available!

I hope I don't have to go back to azureus. :)

thanks,
mark

Can you post your log file ?

You can find it in ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log

ok, here is the log file with only the torrent in question loaded, I deleted everything, quit and restarted KT, tried restarting the torrent, it failed, then I closed KT.

There seems to be some complain about data/file limit. I am using a ReiserFS 3.6 fs under the standard Ubunut kernel 2.6.20-16-generic

The problem was that I had "Start download on low disk space" set to "don't start", and minimum diskspace set to 1Gb. So when the free space after accounting for the torrent was less than 1Gb, KT refused to start it and it didn't ask about it ... KT doing what it was told to do..... just realised this last night in the midst of sleep.

Would have been nice if KT used something visual like uTorrent's bad health status to report these type of problems...

thanks for the help anyway,

You mean like the passive popup we show (unless of course you turned those off)

You mean the system tray popups option? I had to turn all that off, as whenever KT tried to run as a system tray app, it would show no GUI. The window manager didn't support such stuff.

You can turn on the messages and turn off the icon

But I can't run KT iconised, the gui would disappear and I can't get it back without editing the rc file. Problem with the window manager.

You don't need to have the tray icon shown to get the messages.
