is there a way i can install ktorrent 3/3.1 on ubuntu 7.10? i am using ktorrent right know but its an older version 2.25...

Only if 7.10 comes with kde4 packages, othewise you have to setup a kde4 svn desktop, which is not that easy todo.

Easiest way is to install Hardy with kde4-devel packages. This is the way i have done this.

i am a gnome person and i hate dolphin manager on kde 4 so i guess ill have to stick with what i have got

Add this to /etc/apt/sources.list :

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu gutsy main

Then do:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ktorrent-kde4

(note: it will complain that it cannot authenticate the packages, but the packages are fine, you can just answer yes and ignore it)

This will install 3.0.1

You can run whatever file manager you want on whatever desktop environment you want.
