I have successfully started using ktorrent but for some reason the window has resized itself and I can no longer see the bottom of the page..
Now I can't access the tabs that let me change views, so I can change to see peers or stats, it is stuck on tracker. Can any one help? I have tried resizing but I can only do that horizontally, Vertically seems fixed. |

The Problem seems to be with K widgets. when I load them the window is not able to scroll, either horizontally or vertically.
I have managed to resize by removing k widgets and then reloading them. But as soon as you hit one of the tabs, (like Peers) that window appears but is unscrollable. (i.e. no scroll bars horizontally or vertically). |

PMJI but I have had the exact problem also. I saw this in another thread, and did some experimentation. I've narrowed the culprit down to RSS feed. If it is loaded, the vertical size goes very large, and neither resize vertically nor resize the top pane works any more. This is true whether RSS is loaded at KT start, or is enabled later. 100% reproducible.
Something to note... This is on Ubuntu (same behavior on 7.10 and 8.04) using Gnome as the desktop. If the RSS plugin is then unloaded, vertical resizing of the window works again, and all is normal. Since I do a lot of 0-day TV episode downloading, and my time zone has me asleep during North American prime time, I need RSS as a requirement. IINM, the spec for KT 3 omits RSS at this time. Consequently I am using another method of obtaining RSS feeds for the time being. |

After lots of painful experimentation, which included uninstalling ktorrent and then reinstalling it I also found the problems started after using the RSS widget. I also tried removing config files out of my home folder as well as when I reinstalled it, it still picked up the same problem, even without loading RSS.
I seem to have solved the problem by moving to 3.1 Beta1 version. I got this from Fedora Project . (As I am currently using Fedora8). This seems to have solved the problem, but you are right the problem stemmed fron the RSS feed, which I do not need. However getting rid of this did not solve the problem which hung around indicating some cofig files lurking somewhere, while still using the standard version. The standard version used in Fedora8 is a 2.2.6, which I think is quite old. Anyway Problem solved! |

Glad you found a solution which works for you. For me (rel 2.2.5) it never occurs unless I fire up RSS.
Right now I am limited to either 2.2.5 or 3.0.2 by the set of private trackers I use daily. My Ubuntu has no KDE 4 loaded (Gnome is the desktop) and I have not yet determined if and how Ktorrent 3 will run there.
XOXOX.

Thanks for your comments George. I guess that closes it for now!
If 3.xx works why worry about 2.2.xx, although it is always nice to know why somethng happens. Ardwee! My version of Fedora (that is eight) does not have KDE4 either but fortunately the required components were found by the update site. Also I use KDE routinely even though the Gnome is the default for Fedora. I have stuck to KDE as to me it seems more intuitive. (Maybe after using it for 7-8 years I can't be bothered learing a new way.) You can of course, chose to use KDE in Ubuntu as well. I have just used Ktorrent to download Fedora9 and will shortly try to install that which has KDE 4.xx as default. As with all new distros I guess that means lots of pain for me. |
