I just installed KDE4 last week and most everything seems to be working fine. Ktorrent works without a problem, mostly.
First off, when I opened the new version of Ktorrent it didn't recognize any of the torrents in the folder that I had designated and previously been saving them in. I scanned the folder that I have them saved in and was able to get the torrents that I had created back up and running. This next problem might be more of an issue with KDE4 than Ktorrent, but I'll ask it anyway. It seems like every torrent that I had downloaded and saved with KDE 3.5 doesn't appear in the folder that I had saved them in. The final file that I had downloaded was there, but the torrent file and all tracker information seems to be lost unless I revert back to KDE 3.5. I don't seem to be able to locate them anywhere in KDE4, unless I open Ktorrent(KDE3). When I did that, all of my other torrents were suddenly seeding in Ktorrent, though not visible in Dolphin or Find Files. Now going back to my first problem. After closing Ktorrent(KDE3) and opening Ktorrent(KDE4) it looks like I will have to scan my entire folder all over again as there were no torrents at all listed. At the moment I don't have the time to deal with that so I'm back to KT for KDE3. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for the time and program, Q |

KDE3 and KDE4 use different directories to store settings (~/.kde and ~/.kde4)
There is no migration tool at the moment, I need to get started on it, seeing that it will be part of 3.1. But the easiest way to migrate your torrents is to go into ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent and copy all directories named tor0, tor1 ... to ~/.kde4/share/apps/ktorrent . Then start the kde4 version and everything should be OK. If you loaded other torrents in the KDE4 version, make sure the numbers are unique. If you want settings too, then copy ~/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc and every file named kt<name-of-plugin>pluginrc in the same directory, to ~/.kde4/share/config/ |
