Queue manager is totally DUMB

Mon Jul 14, 2008 1:09 am
excuse me, but why is queue manager so dumb and no-intuitive?

1) If i stop/start a torrent, i must then also enqueue it, unless it is not started... It is so long procedure because:

2) i cannot select multiple torrents in queue manager

3) i cannot sort collumns in queue manager

so i must click on every torrent one by one and enqueue it... i have about 200 torrents loaded so this takes sooo much time...

4) every time i enqueue some torrent in queue manager, the list gets randomized again, so it is absolutely mess

Can i queue manager turn off? I have enough bandwith so i can seed most of my torrents at a time. Only if i need to turn off some torrent i just sop it...

Why isnt queue manager just plugin, so one can easily turn it off?

I think better solution then have separate queue manager would be just one additional collumn in main view with "position in queue".

Best regards

Why do you need to start or stop it ? The moment you do that, we assume that you want to manually control the torrent. If we let the QM keep control over the torrent, that could lead to some funny situations.

2) i cannot select multiple torrents in queue manager

Valid point

3) i cannot sort collumns in queue manager

The QM shows the order of the queue manager, which you can manipulate by dragging and dropping or using the buttons on the side, so having this sorted is not a good idea. The whole point of it, is to show the order in the queue.

so i must click on every torrent one by one and enqueue it... i have about 200 torrents loaded so this takes sooo much time...

As an alternative you can select multiple torrents in the torrent views and enqueue them there.

4) every time i enqueue some torrent in queue manager, the list gets randomized again, so it is absolutely mess

The lists does not get randomized, when you enqueue a torrent it gets the lowest priority (right above the user controlled torrents), and the QM order is updated to reflect this.

Then do everything manually. If a torrent is user controlled, then the QM doesn't touch it.

Yes, i want to controll torrents manually... When my ratio goes low in some private tracker, i just want to start all torrents from this tracker to gain more ratio :-)
Public torrents doesnt need to be seeded too much, but private ones need seeding 24/7 :-)
If i want to fast DL something i just stop all torrents instead of the one...
After downloading the one torrent i wanna reenable all private torrents, but this procedure is painfully long, because i cannot view tracker in main view, so i must check every torrent in list which tracker is it from... And then reenable it...

clear now, thanks...

Yes but i dont know which tracker are that torrents from... Which is bad...

So if i just dequeue torrent it is seeded though?
This is strange, because all torrents which i havent got enqueued gets stalled... :-(
Or how i switch betwen user controlled and queue controlled mode? Do i understand it right that queue manager gets sense only on low bandwidth connections?
