Try 2.2.7 or the 3.1 series, 2.2.5 is old

You need to install the development packages for X, Qt, KDE and libgmp

If you are running some debian based distro like ubuntu you can do this :

sudo apt-get build-dep ktorrent

http://hisui.borisz.net/etc/ktorrent227-1-amd64.deb

Its for x86_64 architecture though.Couldn't find one for i586.
Just download this package and click on it.

Then do what it says. Add extra lines with deb-src in front.

Nope, after you have done that it will allow you to apt-get build-deb a program. So you do not have to look for dependencies when it comes to compiling the stuff.

So if you would have a line with for example:
Code: Select all
deb http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/ sid main contrib non-free

Then you would need to add a line underneed with this:
Code: Select all
deb-src http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/ sid main contrib non-free

The lines with deb-src in file /etc/apt/sources.list are probably already there but just commented out with # in front.

Btw, what distribution?

Default KTorrent on Debian/sid (and Lenny in the very near future) is 3.1.1 (ktorrent package).
KTorrent 2.2.7 is still available as ktorrent2.2 and will be removed from Debian sid as soon as Debian Lenny is released.
KTorrent 3.2dev svn839064 build will hit Debian/experimental in a few hours.

Therefore on Debian/sid:

Code: Select all
# apt-get build-dep ktorrent

installs ktorrent 3 build dependencies

Code: Select all
# apt-get build-dep ktorrent2.2

installs ktorrrent 2.2 build dependencies
