problems with cmake in Ubuntu

Fri Sep 05, 2008 5:57 am
I am trying to build the latest version of ktorrent in Ubuntu and I am having some problems with cmake. I posted on the Ubuntu forums already, but did not get a response, so I am trying here as well. I have looked around for this problem, but I did not find a solution to my issue where I looked.

the directions at the ktorrent.org website say to use cmake to compile the program, so I apt-get installed cmake, and now I am getting this error:

Code: Select all

CMake Error: ERROR: cmake/modules/FindKDE4Internal.cmake not found in /home/cameron/.kde4/share/apps;/usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps

I found out that this error means that I need to have kdelibs5-dev installed, however I can't install that because of it's dependencies.

installing kdelibs5-dev depends on having libasound2-dev installed, but I can't install libasound2-dev because the version of libasound that I have installed is the wrong version.

Code: Select all
libasound2-dev:
Depends: libasound2 (=1.0.15-3ubuntu4) but 1.0.16-0ubuntu0.1 is to be installed

so I went into synaptic, selected libasound2 and am trying to do a force version for version 1.0.15-3ubuntu4 (hardy), but if I were to do that, it would uninstall/break the following packages:

Code: Select all
flashplugin-nonfree
ia32-libs
ia32-sun-java6-bin
lib32asound2
nspluginwrapper
wine

is there any way to get this installed? or does anyone have a .deb install of ktorrent 3.1.2-KDE4 (the only one I can find is in the repos for intrepid, and I am using hardy)

the link to my same request on the Ubuntu forums is at this url:

I get the same issue:

Code: Select all
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kdelibs5-dev: Depends: libasound2-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

still can't install kdelibs5-dev

and this is after putting the kde4 launchpad repo in my sources.list

Have you done an apt-get update too? If yes, you are probably after an apt-get -f install <packagename>.

even after updating, upgrading, the force install does not work :(

is there any way I can have both libasound2 (= 1.0.15-3ubuntu4) and libasound2 (=1.0.16-0ubuntu0.1) installed? I can't change the version of libasound2 without breaking a lot of other packages that depend on the new version.

Code: Select all
 cameron@cameron-x61t-ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get -f install kdelibs5-dev

Reading state information... Done

distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
