Ktorrent & vncserver -kill :1

Mon Sep 29, 2008 4:25 pm
Hello all

First i like to say thank´s for the nice application ktorrent is
I like the look, functions and web interface.
And i get good speed bout downloading and uploading.
And for the most part it´s very stable i don´t think it has ever crashed for me
hr mm until now.
I am using TightVNC server "latest version"
and using ssh to close down TightVNC using this command
vncserver -kill :1

Ktorrent crashes every time i do that

I have no idea of where to start figuring this out..
If anybody here has any idea what is happening i would be grateful

This is the software i am using

Mandriva Powerpack 2008
Ktorrent 2.2.7
Kde 3.5.9
tightvnc-1.3.9-1

Have a nice day

Hey http,

I don't know what's causing your problem, but I have a suggestion. I use x11vnc for my vnc server, and have never had the problem you describe. You might give x11vnc a try -- it has a LOT of features (even supports UltraVNC's file xfer), is WAY faster than vino, and it supports Tight encoding (as well as ZRLE and the newer ZYWRLE).

If you're interested, here's how I start the server.

x11vnc -display :0 -bg -passwdfile /path/to/your/password -ultrafilexfer -forever

-ultrafilexfer activates UVNC file transfers. Omit the -forever if you want the server to shut down after you disconnect.
