Another bugfix release for the 3.1 series is out. This fixes several bugs :

* A crash caused by a SIGBUS, when diskspace preallocation is disabled
* High CPU usage when DNS lookups fail in the UDP tracker code
* Several security issues in the webinterface plugin

I failed to compile ktorrent since 3.1. The details are as follows:-

Which Qt and KDE version are you using ?

My setting is as follows:-

Ubuntu 8.04 (Gnome Desktop)
Qt 4.4.0
KDE 4.0.3

You need at least KDE4.1 installed for KTorrent to compile.
Btw, why don't you compile the latest 3.1.4?

Thanks for your information. I have compiled 3.1 - 3.14, but I failed every time. I am using Ubuntu, and I am not a power linux user. Could you tell me the method of upgrading KDE 4.1 from KDE 4.0.3? I remembered that I just use "apt-get" to upgrade KDE from version 3.5.x to version 4.x. Should I obtain the sources first and then compile?

To get KDE 4.1.2 add this to /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu hardy main

then apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade should install KDE4.1.2

I do not recommend you to do this kind of upgrade if you do not know the difference between Ubuntu and Kubuntu. However, to answer your question, Kubuntu and Ubuntu are both the same distribution.

Thanks a lot! After upgraded KDE to 4.1.2, I finally compiled my own ktorrent 3.1.4.
