Column width stretches back after manual adjust (KT 3.1.4)

I was just wondering if this is related to the fact that I am using Ktorrent 3.1.4 under Gnome and Compiz. Whenever I adjust manually the column width of, for instance, "Name" so I can get a better view of the rightmost columns in the tabs field, then close Ktorrent to the system tray, and open it again, the column has stretched back, uncovering the whole name of the torrent, sending everything to the right.

Is there a way for the column to stay narrower all the time? Maybe I am missing some option? Right now, I have to shorten it back, or use the horizontal scroll bar every time I want to take a quick look at the torrents' status.

I can't reproduce this.

Gnome will probably have nothing to do with it. Which version of Qt are you using ?

Qt 4.4.3, KDE is 4.1.2, upgraded Ubuntu to Ibex and temporary moved to Gnome during the final beta stages. Frankly, I don't remember if there were any substantial updates of the KDE packages after I compiled KT. Yesterday this behaviour suddenly stopped after I played around with the column width prior to posting here, but today it's present again.

On second thought, I'll compile Ktorrent again, and I'll post whether it fixes it.

Edit:
Yeah, the same thing. Start Ktorrent, Name column is fully stretched, adjust column width so only part of the torrent name is visible, close Ktorrent, click on the tray icon, Name column is fully stretched. Maybe some configuration leftovers? My installation is quite a mess.

I'm on 4.4.1, this must be a behavioral change in Qt 4.4.2 or 4.4.3.

Seeing that I will be upgrading to intrepid next week, I should also encounter this bug.

Not being fussy on purpose about it at all (in fact, I'm beginning to feel a bit silly, but here we go  ), I just tried this with 3.1.5, and it's still there. When I close KTorrent to the system tray (by Alt-F4, or by left mouse click), and open it again, the column's readjusted. When I quit KTorrent with a right click from the system tray without closing it first, the column retains its width no matter how many times I close the client to the system tray, but the second I set a different width the readjusting is back. I noticed I had some KTorrent files left from previously installed versions due to different prefixes I've used (/usr vs. /usr/local), so please don't mind me yacking about all that, it's probably some system specific issue, judging by the lack of confirms from other users.

Looking forward to the 3.2 stable, and thanks for your hard work!

I had the same problem with the last few versions deciding which columns to show and their sizes but I always assumed it was because I'm running a kde4 application in a Gnome environment.

Anyhow, although you're waiting for the 3.2 stable release the beta fixed the problem for me and is going strong!

The problem with this issue is, that even if I can reproduce it, it probably is a Qt bug. KTorrent itself doesn't do anything when the window is shown, we only tell Qt to show the window. Nothing more, repainting the window is then fully handled by Qt.

Today I compile latest SVN build of 3.2dev and have same problem.

What isn`t remembered never happened. Memory is merely a record. You just need to rewrite that record.
