I have the same or simular problems, with the 3.3.4 release of that one.
ktorrent have opened 49150 (tcp) and 49151 (udp) ports (settings of ktorrent) #iptables -L .. ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:49150 state NEW ACCEPT udp -- anywhere anywhere udp dpt:49151 state NEW .. |

Also, you should be able to setup outgoing connections.
