From time to time kio_http_cache_ wakes up and causes massive cpu and disk usage.
I noticed this happens when ktorrent is running - is this connected in any way and how to solve it.

Using ktorrent svn rev 891010 and kde 4.2 from trunk.

Don't know, ktorrent uses kio to do http announces. This is probably a kio bug.
