Mandriva 2009 64bit/ no plugins

Sun Jan 18, 2009 5:58 pm
I installed ktorrent 3.1.5 (64bit) from repositories. Ktorrent is working, downloading etc..
BUT i tried to turn on few plugins in order to have some additional information etc.
I did checked few plugins but they dont want to show on main window... i did try to turn on/off etc but nothing...
Does anyone have idea what went wrong and how i can use plugins that i checked in configuration/plugins window ?

There must be some old plugins still somewhere on your disk which KT is trying to load. Make sure the old KT version is completely removed.

that cant be the case... this is the first install of the ktorrent ... i installed mandriva 2009 few months ago and until recently i used azerus on linux...
so i did clean install of ktorrent 3.1.5 from repository...

i am thinking.. can it be something with the 64bit version... not loading the 32bit plugins or something like that ?

any other idea ?

If it is a 64 bit version, there will be 64 bit plugins.

Start ktorrent from a terminal, maybe something useful gets printed.

[nedario@localhost BOINC]$ ktorrent
ktorrent(15576) KLocalePrivate::initEncoding: Cannot resolve system encoding, defaulting to ISO 8859-1.
ktorrent(15576)/kdeui (K*Gesture*) KAction::setGlobalShortcut: Attempt to set global shortcut for action without objectName(). Read the setGlobalShortcut() documentation.

and it is running without plug ins as it was started from start menu...

Can you send me your log file (~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log) ?

in the log i noticed few lines like this:
Plugin ktsearchplugin version does not match KTorrent version, unloading it.

this would indicate the problem you described in your first replay...

as this was first install of kttorent on clean pc it must be something with the installation from my mandrake repositories...

i will try few things... i will let you know...

i uninstalled 3.1.5 and installed 3.1.3 and this version is working fine. it has all plug-ins visible !

I did try few installs uninstalls in order to make 3.1.5 work but no help...
probably if i download kttorent directly from this site (i am using mandrake repositories) it would be better

at the moment i am happy with the version 3.1.13.

Thank you George for all your effort, you did point me in the right direction. Thanks.
