Hi,
I love ktorrent, but I want to use it with another episode downloader. But... it makes me manually click "ok" to download all files in the torrent. Now when I use the syndication plug in, it automatically downloads the files from the torrent without having to click "ok" How can I set ktorrent to auto download all files in a torrent when ktorrent opens the torrent without making me click ok? As for using the ktorrent downloader, my experience with it so far is not so good. I am hopeful it will get better or I will figure out how to use it better, but another program that is java based works great on linux and works with ktorrent... its just the "ok" thing I need to fix. |

Do you mean edit the settings in the settings/ configure ktorrent?
I see where you have the option to silently open multiple torrents, but not a single torrent. Do you mean the option in the syndication plugin? I saw that and it works with the syndication plugin, but I am looking for a way to make it work without the syndication plugin? I need it to work when say you just click on a link in firefox and the torrent opens in ktorrent... anyway for ktorrent to not make you click okay? detailed description on how to do it would be appreciated.. |

You can do this : ktorrent --silently /path/to/torrent Not sure if firefox allows you to add command line parameters. |

Hi, thanks for the info, but I didnt quite understand... Did you mean edit firefox's extensions or?
Can you give me more detailed info? I wont actually be using firefox directly, I want to sue TED torrent episode downloader with ktorrent... Ted downloads and fetches it to ktorrent, but ktorrent makes you click " ok" just as if you were in firefox. |

If you can tell TED to add the --silently parameter to the command line when it starts up ktorrent, ktorrent will load the torrents silently. |

TED loads the torrent in the default torrent client, I have linux making ktorrent the default, is there a way to make or edit linux so it opens silently?
I know the built in syndication plug in does it... so I thought there would be a way to edit it within ktorrent. ktorrent is such a great app, and its the only torrent client that doesnt make my internet connection go haywire... I know this may seem like a minor issue, but I think it would be important for ktorrent to fix this. |

If you are using KDE, then you can change the file association settings. Go to system settings, the advanced tab, then select file associations. Select the file type application/x-bittorrent, on the right side there should be a list with all torrent clients. Select ktorrent there and press the edit button. Then you get a dialog, go to the application tab, in the command box, there should be something like this : ktorrent %i -caption "%c" %u Just add the --silent parameter there, like this : ktorrent --silent %i -caption "%c" %u |

Hi George,
Thanks but I am running Gnome... I can right click on a torrent and edit the property as to what file opens it by default, but i tdoesnt allow for switches like you suggested. Any idea how to edit this in gnome? I am running Ubuntu, is there a way to run kde desktop, make the change, switch back to gnome and have it work? or something more simple? Thanks for your help |

Alright, had to install kde desktop and then switch back to gnome, but it worked...
In case anyone needs to do this in the future, here is what I did... If you are running Ubuntu, you can install KDE by opening a terminal window and type: sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop When prompted, enter your password, and then answer yes (Y) when asked if you want to install. The install may take some time to complete, so be patient. once installed, go to system / administration . login window under default session, you can switch between gnome and kde, restart. Do waht George said... keep in mind that when you are done editing, it wont show you the changes when you look back into it, but it works... also, keep in mind that when you edit the ktorrent info, it may go to the bottom of the list, move it up to top of the list so another app isnt selected. then in kde desktop, find the login window and switch back to gnome... restart then click on a torrent, and it opens silently. Thanks george |

Ok, sorry. In fact, what I was asking is a option to be able to turn off the dialog when you add a torrent from the browser. Is there a way to do that, or just using the command line? Thank you. |

Personally I'd do away with the screen at all, it has been nothing but annoying... But it's not my decision, so I made an easier work-around which should work for every other application.
Fill it with Run And finally tell the other programs (firefox, rss parser, etc...) to open torrents with the new file. Have fun. |
