I'm on Ubuntu 8.10, and using KT 3.1.2. And I've been using it for quite a while with no problems at all.
But all of a sudden two nights ago the client crashed. And it won't open back up. The KDE Crash Handler pops ups and says the crash caused Signal 11(SIGSEGV). And when I tick the Show Details box, another windows pops up that says: Unable to create a valid backtrace. This backtrace appears to be of no use. This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash. I had some torrents running when it crashed, so how can I go about fixing this without losing those running torrents? I don't want to update to 3.2final just yet since I just found out one of the trackers I'm using hasn't allowed that version yet(but I put in a request for them to allow, so it should be soon). So can I simply go into Synaptics, uninstall 3.1.2 and reinstall it, and maybe my .torrents will still be in it? Thank you for any help. |

Ok, this is all I could get out of it. It started, the halfway through I got the same invalid backtrace window again. And yeah, I tried completely removing KT from Synaptics and installing it again, but I still get this crash report when I go to start the client.
I hope I'll be able to get this client running again. It's the best one for Linux.

It crashes when the mediaplayer plugin tries to create a phonon AudioOutput object, this is a phonon problem, nothing we can do about.
As a workaround, you can disable the plugin by opening ~/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc and changing : [Media Player] MediaPlayerPluginEnabled=true Into [Media Player] MediaPlayerPluginEnabled=false |
