Installing ktorrent in Windows

Sun May 17, 2009 5:39 pm
I'm on Windows Xp right now.
To install this program I'm using the installer.exe from the site download.
In my attempt I choose to install from internet, choose the version I wanted and a whole list of items stuff such as language packages came up. I choose the things I need and the install finished but it didn't seem to work.

I think I'm doing it wrong. So can someone please give me a step by step help on how to install ktorrent onto Windows.

Thanks alot.

KTorrent should be in your start menu if you have selected it to install

I installed the KTorrent application on XP SP2 and I can't find the application in either, start menu, desktop, or program files. I have a KDE folder, but there's no EXEs in any of the folders.

Another thing I should mention is that, the install is quite complicated. I thought the download was the actual application, but it seems to be a download manager. So I first tried to install from local folder, as I figured I'd already downloaded it. When that didn't work I ran the application again and downloaded it from the internet. Still no luck.

Hmm I'm back to windows, tried installing ktorrent, failed, went to utorrent. I wish they had an easier windows installation.

Background: Used windows, hated it, tried ubuntu liked it, got an itouch for x-mas couldn't sync no matter what, nor could I get the newer versions of itunes, or play old games, or do some quick hacking. However programs like ktorrent made ubuntu made it worth the hassel.
*Note used wine to install old itunes but it still did not sync, cannot install This ktorrent for the life of me, I give up, going to use a **** torrent. Lemme know if you guys get a windows installer :)

You should have a start menu for KDE, and inside that, folders for the application type.

KTorrent is installed to the "Internet" folder.

Has worked fine for me on VISTA and XP SP3.

Make sure when you select KTorrent you select only the app, not the dev or bin materials.

Would like to ask that someone push WIN-KDE to put the newest KTorrent in the install. They're stuck at 3.3.1, at the moment, and I'm hoping the 3.3.4 will solve my connectability issues...
