I am curious if there is any way (included feature or plugin) to instruct KTorrent to try to connect to the physically closest pears.
For example, I have about 10 times faster Internet in my country than outside of it. It would be great to have the ability to define a preferred list of countries and Ktorrent would prioritize those peers. |

We don't need to use KDE's geolocation service, we already have that (how do you think those flags show up in the peer list ?).
Anyway, I think it is best to include this feature into a more generalized peer priority system. A sort of hierarchical based priority system : 1: LAN and manually added peers 2: Same ISP 3: Same country 4: Same geographical region 5: Everybody else And then we could connect according to this hierarchy, give each group special speed limits, and adapt the choking algorithm to take into account this hierarchy for uploading. |

Any further news on this subject?
George, your classification looks logical, however at the geographical level, let users prioritize specific countries. |

So ... Are there any plans to implement this feature? What about a wild guess about when will such a feature be available?

I have other priorities at the moment, don't know when I can do this. |
