Using Ktorrent 3.2.4 on clean install of Opensuse 11.2
Whenever I start Ktorrent it takes anywhere between 1 min and 5 mins to load depending on how many torrents I have running at the time. Most I have had in Ktorrent at one time is six. I have my torrents on an external USB drive. In earlier versions of Opensuse and ktorrent I did not see this problem. After I click the launch button I get the bouncing cursor which bounces for about 30 secs then disappears. After a further lengthy period Ktorrent screen starts. If I go into system monitor while waiting for it to start I can see that the cpu usage is displayed as "disk sleep" Anybody have any ideas what the prob is? Fixed in 3.3? |

installed 3.3 but thsi hasn't fixed the problem.
Could I be seeing this because my external USB disk is fat32? If I changed to ext4 would I see this improved? Only have approx six torrents active - total about 3GB |

I seed with a fat32 drive that I have been too lazy to change to another format and have never experienced any problem with ktorrent starting up. These drives have been internal though.

External USB drive is slower then internal hard drive, so it could be that, but that would surprise me. When did this start happening ?

Have a clean install of Opensuse 11.2. Have tried a full clean install a couple of times with different media to see if I had a corrupted install but still see the problem.
I have only just come back to Linux after problems with Opensuse 11.0 & 11.1 - however, did not see this behaviour in those releases - but thinking back I think I was probably using KDE 3 version of Ktorrent and my external drive was ext3 formatted. It seems that Ktorrent is actually running but is scanning the files before bringing up the interface. The more files I have active the longer it takes to launch - but five mins seems a long time to scan for a couple of gigs of files. |

wanted to check if my system or ktorrent that is slowing things down so installed another clinet - qbittorrent.
I loaded all my torrents into this client and it launches immediately - so it is definitely something ktorrent related that is not launching right away? |

problem solved - reformatted my drive to ext4 and ktorrent starts pretty much right away.
Not too sure why Ktorrent didn't play well with fat32 drive and another client had no problem. |

I find it strange that this can happen, KT doesn't actually load anything from the data during startup.
