I installed 3.3 fine when it came out, but then found out it wasn't approved for a tracker I use and downgraded to 3.2.*. It is now approved and I would like to use it, but I get the following error during make.

[ 27%] Building CXX object libbtcore/CMakeFiles/btcore.dir/migrate/migrate.o
[ 27%] Building CXX object libbtcore/CMakeFiles/btcore.dir/btversion.o
Linking CXX shared library ../lib/libbtcore.so
CMake Error: cmake_symlink_library: System Error: Operation not permitted
CMake Error: cmake_symlink_library: System Error: Operation not permitted
make[2]: *** [lib/libbtcore.so.12.1.0] Error 1
make[1]: *** [libbtcore/CMakeFiles/btcore.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would appreciate it.

Must be something wrong with the permissions of libbtcore.so.

Is this a fresh compile ?

It was a fresh install. I tried moving it to another partition and it compiled and installed fine. Thank you though.
