Problem one - Ktorrent doesn't recognise the .torrent protocol
- the directory where I keep the torrents appears empty I installed a truckload of updates for KDE and hoped against all hope that this problem would have been resolved - sadly no ! I can now see the torrent files but if I right-click on a redundant file to move it to trash I get a "Process for trash protocol has died unexpectedly" So it's Ktorrent 3.3.4 running on Fedora 12, it's a fully updated installation But despite being as up-to-date as a can make it Ktorrent is becoming a waste of space |

And I should add that when I try to add a torrent the error is
"The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly" - what do you call a torrent client that won't take torrents ? No amount of logging-out/logging-in, rebooting closing and re-opening Ktorrent changes the dead or dying protocols messages |

Super !
My cup runneth over "the process for the http process died unexpectedly" There's something seriously wrong with this version, any more 'improvements' and I'll be getting kernel panics when I open Ktorrent |

It seems your have problems with KIO:
Try to reinstall kio package. |

it's an integral part of the KDE desktop manager isn't it ? so you're suggesting I un-install KDE and do a re-install ? - all the other KDE applications are fine, it's only KTorrent that doesn't work |

'Process for the http process died unexpectedly'
Means that the KIO slave doing the actual announce crashed, this is part of KDE and not part of ktorrent. Something got **** up during this update. If the http KIO slave is borked, you should not be able to access webpages with konqueror. If the only application affected is ktorrent, you could try reinstalling ktorrent, but it is more likely that the problem is with the KDE update, and something did not get updated properly. |
