I am new to Linux jargon and procedure. Have ubuntu 9.04
I have Ktorrent version 3.2.1 (using KDE 4.2.4) from the add/remove programs in Ubuntu.
I would like to now upgrade to Ktorrent 4, but do not have a clue as to how to do it?

Simplified help would be appreciated.

Best you can do is upgrading to 10.04 of kubuntu so you can request a backport on http://launchpad.net. (which they only do for the latest version of (k/x)ubunut)
Or you can compile from source, which i do not recommand.

KDE 4.2.4 is way to old for ktorrent 4, you will need to upgrade KDE to 4.4, your best bet is probably to go to the latest kubuntu version like stoeptegel said.

I have been involved with computers in some form or another for nearly 30 years. ( or longer; punched cards).
I have tried many versions of Linux; RedHat 6 and above, Fedora, Opensuse, Mandrake, Knoppix, Deb,Ian and many others. I am not opposed to Linux; on the contrary; however this fractured approach by the Linux world is leaving me cold. I just wish there were a co-ordinated approach. It seems that their are too many cooks spoiling the broth. To do a simple task is a maze of; "got to have this first or try this approach or use terminal commands; good grief, that's like using DOS 5."
