Hello,
-Ubuntu 10.10, ktorrent 4.0.4. 'High-end' N1 Vision Belkin modem/router. -Every 10-15minutes, ktorrent bit-torrent downloads crash my modem for 10seconds and then the internet connections resumes. -I tried to replace the modem with a highend D-Link modem and experiencing the same issue. -Any ideas what is causing this? NOTE: On forums search, I did come across 'denial of service'. Which is 'bad users' trying to kill my connection. But, I don't feel this is my issue. -I can't believe it, but is my modem being swamped with connections? Ian. |

Try lowering the amount of global connections to 200 or so. It is under Settings -> Configure Ktorrent -> Network -> Global connection limit. I used to have a router that would die if I didn't do this myself.

Limit the maximum number of simultaneous connections setups in the network settings to 10 or 15.

-I researched my modem/router. The number of global connections on a stress test suggested 200 was the top limit. As I use the network for several things. I lowered KTorrent to around 140 and network setup to the minimum 10.
-Doing this, there appears to be no speed degradation. -The modem still resets every 12 hours or more. But this is a significant improvement over every 10minutes. |
