He,
Iv got a netbook with ubuntu 10.10 desktop edition. I installed ktorrent 4.0.3 Is it possible to let ktorrent continue while I close the lid of the netbook. Also when opening ktorrent, internet is really slow. I set the upload limit to 85 (out of 250Kbs), but still it is very slow. I am not able to open ports (as it is not my router/appertment where I am living now). And I am not able to login the router because I think it comes with firmware from the ISP. On the ISP website I dont get any wiser aswell because its all in danish. Anyway, I know I dont really have to open the ports, but are there any other settings I can optimize? Thanks in advance. |

For opening the ports, you could try the UPnP plugin. If the router supports it, it will work.
If you don't set the laptop to hibernate or suspend.
Speed limits in ktorrent are in kilobytes per second and not kilobits per second. 85 KB/s = 680 Kbps So it is quite logical that things are slow. |

That is huge, ~2500KB/s.
I am also having the same problem, downloads are extremely slow. I am running ktorrent 4.0.5 on latest KDE/gentoo. Gets to a max of like 30k then drops out and stays stalled for a little while then downloads for a couple mins and drops out again. While the identical torrent runs full speed on other win7/utorrent machines at the same time. Also those two machines do not connect as hosts, weather that is a related problem or not i do not know ![]() HeZ |
