Hi all,

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and trying to use kTorrent with a private rss feed. I'm able to log in with Konqueror and save the cookie there but it seems that when I try to use kTorrent the cookie gets erased from both Konq and kTorrent. What gives? Is there any way to troubleshoot this or does anybody have a similar experience.

btw, if I don't open kTorrent it looks like Konq doesn't have any trouble remembering the cookie.

Thanks

I figured it out! Of course, I'm not sure how to fix it exactly but I did figure it out.

I looked at the log file located at ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/log By watching that file I saw that each rss request I make tries to find the torrent file on the target link. In doing so it tries EVERY SINGLE link on the page to see if it is the torrent. Sure enough one of the links is a "log out" link. This is listed before the torrent file and so I'm logged out before I download the torrent.

Yay me for finding the problem. Can anybody help me FIX it?

You are trying to use an RSS feed which does not have a direct link to the torrent.

If there is no direct link, ktorrent will try all links on the page, starting with the ones ending in .torrent or .TORRENT. So you might get some unwanted links activated, if the torrent cannot be found.

There is really not much which can be done about this, the RSS feed is just not suited for automated torrent downloading.
