Uninstall after cmake/install

Tue Apr 19, 2011 5:30 am
Ubuntu's repository version is 4.03, so after uninstalling that version I downloaded 4.1 and installed with cmake/make/install.

apt-get remove doesn't recognize ktorrent as being installed as it doesn't match the repository version.

Turns out 4.1 isn't approved on all my trackers, so how do I uninstall 4.1? I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Linux, but after poking around the system it looks to me like worse-case I can always just delete all the ktorrent/libktorrent files and/or install 4.03 on top of 4.1 from Ubuntu's package handler (software center/synaptic).

Thanx in advance,

ALF

Thanks George, thought it had to be something simple like that. I assume if I didn't keep the build directories, I'd have to repeat all the install steps, substituting uninstall for install in the last step. I tried checking make --help and didn't find either install or uninstall listed as a parameter.

As it happens, I went back into synaptics and even though it didn't show ktorrent or libktorrent as installed, it still allowed me to mark them for removal. So, after doing that I installed the old version with no problems found. I still suspect I could have installed the older version on top of the new one without issue however.
