Ktorrent wont start

Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:06 am
Ktorrent was working fine until this morning, when I started my computer and try to start ktorrent I get this:

Code: Select all
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
KGlobal::locale::Warning your global KLocale is being recreated with a valid main component instead of a fake component, this usually means you tried to call i18n related functions before your main component was created. You should not do that since it most likely will not work
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
Warning: QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
KCrash: Application 'ktorrent' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/libexec/kde4/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/home/stephan/.kde/socket-december/kdeinit4__1
unnamed app(23980): Communication problem with  "ktorrent" , it probably crashed.
Error message was:  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "

I tried re-installing the latest .rpm, but same problem. Removed and compiled from source, same problem :-( Any ideas?

Fedora 16 / 32 bit intel

UPDATE: Seems many things in KDE are broken now, apparently the latest nvidia drivers totally messed up KDE :-( Not a ktorrent problem therefore.

Do you get the KDE crash dialog ? If so post the backtrace.

Not a Ktorrent problem, many other apps wont open either. Caused by the NVIDIA drivers installed a different set of OpenGL libraries, causing problems.

If anyone on Fedora is having the same problem, you can start Ktorrent from a terminal like this:

Code: Select all
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 ktorrent

.. at least until the Nvidia issue gets fixed.
