I am not running many torrents but I have high ram and cpu usage for ktorrent. To be fair I'm currently using an older computer so it's not all ktorrent's fault.
I was wondering what settings I can change in ktorrent's preferences that will reduce its footprint in terms of how much ram it uses as well as its cpu usage. The ram is what is killing me most because with four torrents running and about 45 loaded it's using about a gigabyte between ram and swap, and unfortunately my current machine doesn't have much to spare there.
I seem to recall azureus having a whole faq on reducing resources by changing common preferences and it worked pretty well; I am sure there are things I can change about how I use ktorrent that will reduce its footprint on the system.

You can reduce the amount of connections per torrent, disable some features like DHT, unload plugins you don't need.

Disabling µTP should also help.
