I'm a KTorrent newbie, and a search through the forum and the wiki didn't give me a solution.

I'm trying to download with a couple of magnet links. I used File / Open URL to add the links, and they show up in the bottom Magnet section:
Gold Rush Downloading 0
The.Double... Downloading 0

And that's it. The Running Downloads section stays at 0/0 and empty.

I never saw a file selection dialogue. In Settings I have Use DHT to get additional peers.

From some other forum post, I executed these:
~@PC1:~# gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/magnet/command "/usr/bin/ktorrent %s"
~@PC1:~# gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/magnet/needs_terminal false -t bool
~@PC1:~# gconftool-2 -t bool -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/magnet/enabled true
I restarted KTorrent, but I did not reboot.

Which ktorrent version are you using ? 4.8.5 is the version of KDE, ktorrent does not use the same version numbers as KDE

Synaptic says it's 4.1.3-1ubuntu1

You should upgrade to a more recent version like 4.3, this should be fixed in that version.

Thanks, George. Maybe some day. In Kubuntu 12.10, 4.3 is not in the repositories, and I don't build from source (been there, done that, and didn't like it).

Transmission seems to be doing OK with magnet links.

I have the same experience..

I have the same experience with magnet links. KTorrent 4.1.3, would like to upgrade but don't want to compile.
