ktorrent ralink ra3290 driver

Mon Feb 11, 2013 12:37 pm
hi im not sure if this is the right place to ask but its a start...

i have a new laptop with a ralink ra3290 device, i installed the driver for ubuntu 12.04 following this post:

http://rricketts.com/installing-ralink-rt3290-wireless-drivers-in-ubuntu-12-04/

now when ever i try to start ktorrent it crashes...
i removed the ~/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent directory and it starts... but then it crashes whenever i start a torrent...
seems to me to be an issue when it tries to access the network interface.

syslog displays:
Code: Select all
kernel: [15776.535727] RT3290_AsicTxAlcGetAutoAgcOffset: Incorrect desired TSSI or current TSSI

transmission and all other internet apps work fine...

any help on this would be greatly appreciated as i love ktorrent and dont want to resort to having to use transmission...

thanks

if ~/ was copied from another device try removing/renaming ~/share/config/ktorrentrc

seems there lots of issues with that hw/driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1049466 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=119797 weird you only see them in Ktorrent

thanks for the quick reply...

ive had this problem for a while and of course as soon as i post a request/bug i solve it...

i installed build-essential and linux-headers-generic packages and recompiled the driver as per chili555's answer to this post: http://askubuntu.com/questions/229195/wireless-driver-how-to-load-manufacturers-sta-file-ralink-3290

ktorrent is now up and running...

hope at least this helps someone...

i was a bit hasty... ktorrent has resumed crashing... so i followed your advice and renamed ~/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc which reset my ktorrent settings... i then was able to start the torrents one at a time... it did crash on me once but it seems ok for the moment... ill keep my eye on it for a bit...
