Version 4.3.1
All I can see is some dialog window which shows very shortly and says something like "files are missing", and then it crashes. It happened before, but that windows was not visible and it helped starting it up again. But now it crashes every time. I have many torrents I seed (like ~3500), maybe it's some problem with that? I'll give every information and help to solve this problem, please help, really don't know what can I do to fix it... Thanks.. |

start ktorrent in Konsole are there any messages when it crashes?
run kdebugdialog, deselect all then select ktorrent, click ok to close. start Ktorrent and after it crashes look at the end of ~/.xsession-errors |

Here's what is displayed in console: kdedebugdialog won't start? ...

note: when you post large amounts of text kindly use the code tags, as I did on your post
note 2: it's kdebugdialog, not kdedebugdialog, did a drkonki window open ? if so was the backtrace deemed usable and if so was it forwarded to the devs? |

Thing is, when I try to install some debugging support it says it doesn't apply to ktorrent, so it seems to me it's meaningless to install it or not? Will do everything so we can fix this up, because I really don't have other solutions other than ktorrent. Backtrace doesn't mean much to me

If the "Developer Information" tab successfully generates a useful backtrace, please post that here so we can examine it - you may have an outdated plugin or damaged configuration causing this - which can sometimes be spotted from a backtrace.

Dont know how or why, but now I succeeded starting it up: ktorrent allowed me to recreate some missing data files in seeds (dont really know how they miss at all, and I cant give you developer backtrace now, I guess these errors occur when I reboot machine, not shutting down ktorrent first. Anyways, thanks...

Okay, if this issue recurs and you can get a backtrace from the "Developer Information" tab of Dr Konqi, please feel free to post that here.

Now it crashed in the middle of operation... was doing nothing while it crashed:

That is an extremely unusual crash. Can you please check ~/.xsession-errors to see if anything relevant from glibc was printed?
It seems something in Qt is causing glibc to force KTorrent to exit immediately - i've only seen this in relation to memory errors though, never in relation to network issues.

"grep glibc .xsession-errors" does not output anything if that means anything..
![]() ktorrent is acting very weird... I tried about 10 times to start it in previous boot and few times in this with no luck, but it actually started few seconds ago no problem, what I did is that I deleted .xsession-errors file hoping to get some fresh ktorrent-related output, but after starting ktorrent file is not re-generated, and I here my .xsession-errors file can be downloaded if someone wants to examine it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/204 ... errors.old really not sure if I would be able to start ktorrent again... thanks... |

Forgot to mention ktorrent rarely manages count number of torrents in the tree on the left side, it happens in 1 out of 10 times. Maybe that is even related to this crashes? More, my system is fresh installation and it's updated Mint 14...

I realized how to fix the crash... Yesterday it crashed again and I couldn't start it... Then I noticed one torrent directory in .ktorrent folder was having the different date & time. Renamed it temporarily with _ prefix, started ktorrent successfully, closed ktorrent, then renamed it to original name and successfully started ktorrent again. Hope this helps developers to kill this bug.

I would suggest filing a bug at bugs.kde.org, as it is less likely to be lost there - if one has not already been reported.

Yes, I'm in complete despair. So much struggle with opening ktorrent, yet there's no other Linux bittorrent client that is even close to suitable for me... Please take a look how does it crash at http://youtu.be/vH4t55LWFMo ... Video starts when I already opened ktorrent.... and there is some debug information afterwards... I would so love this to be solved that I would give money for it.
