I'm just uploading a torrent with ktorrent for the first time, and in order to get it going would like to seed it to a ratio of 5 to 10 if possible. In ordinary use I have Default maximum share ratio set to 1 plus a fraction for generally circulated torrents, and don't want these to automatically run on forever during that long seeding period.

My question: Does the Default maximum share ratio apply to a torrent that has been created in ktorrent (Version 4.3.1) with the File > New dialogue?

Thanks for the help, guys. After a few hours spent trying to change the torrent limits inherited from the settings page, I found this (from Ktorrent/configure, part of an online manual not linked from any KDE/KTorrent page I could find):

Max share ratio
... You can also configure the share ratio of each torrent separately. This can be done from the status panel, to the right of where it says max ratio.

It doesn't say this, but the "status panel" is popped up when you hit the Status button at the bottom of the screen with the targeted torrent selected up top. In fact, current (4.3.1) versions of Ktorrent say "Ratio limit" instead of "max ratio."
