Downloading "latest" datawiki dump (filename: wikidata-20220103-all.json.gz) ... lists on datawiki site as 109gb file, loads in to ktorrent as 101.6gb file and "finishes" at same 101.6gb "complete" file. if you do a "data check" it comes up with 5,000+ "failed" chunks out of appx 55,000 chunks.

Load the same torrent file in to transmission-kde and, voila, it registers as expecting 109gb, checks the file, finds appx 8gb missing, and downloads the rest.

:(

so sad.

Nah, it's not that bad - nobody using ktorrent (practically never see it as peer) and most sites would advise to use transmission anyway.

But did you try other big ones, too? Perhaps the problem lies elsewhere...

I tried yours, took the torrent from here:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Database_download

Worked, no issue at all. Perhaps just your storage had a problem? How often did you try it with ktorrents?

Take a good look, children. It will prepare you for your adult lives in our nightmarish corporate system.
