I just found out that you can enhance the Dolphin Filebrowser with kdesdk-dolphin-plugins to have additonal menu options for pull push checkout and tag creation.
http://aeciosantos.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/dophin-git.png This looks rather sad in comparison to the mighty TortoiseGit, TortoiseSVN my friends are using on Windows. It is a lot easier to cherry pick commits from other branches, show the log in a more pleasing GUI , doing rebase and switch branches on the fly with a click of the mouse. |

I've been using kdesvn which I've found to be comparable to TortoiseSVN.
I haven't found a comparable counterpart for Git, though. Even just looking for a nice QT/KDE GUI for git has been disappointing (though I don't use git for my primary development, so I'm not familiar/comfortable enough with the whole git workflow to fully evaluate what options I've found). The best I've found so far was Git Cola, which is okay. It looks like there may be some newer options out there that I haven't tried yet (the kernel wiki has a nice feature matrix of various git clients: https://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/I ... _matrix.29). I'd recommend posting a request in the Brainstorm forum for enhancing the featuresets of the built-in VCS integration with the functionality you want to see.
