A couple questions with Kate and Kwrite after unsuccessful searches for the answers

System Info
-- Kubuntu: 16.04
-- Plasma: 5.5..5
-- Qt: 5.5.1
-- Kwrite: 15.12.3
-- Kate: 15.12.3

1) The option to switch to "power user" is missing. I recently installed the latest kwrite and kate on my machine and the settings are a bit goofy from what I've used in the past. I suspect the lack of "power user" may resolve the unique behavior.

2) Pressing Control+Space makes the auto-complete window toggle on and off. This is super irritating. How do I make it so Control+Space just makes the window pop up and stay up?

3) How do I get a vertical bar in kwrite and kate? I've seen lots of instructions out there but they only seem to work on older versions of kate.

4) If all else fails, is there a way to install older versions of kate and kwrite? Keep in mind I'm a linux noob.
