When I installed NEW Kate at the beginning I noticed it was rather wordy and without any icons. Just the words OPEN, NEW, SAVE &c.
I thought it was defined this way by default. Looking around the web I see this may not be the case and that in fact I am not seeing the icons as they are not provided in Kate by default but instead are provided as part of a KDE theme? Well, I am not running KDE and instead I am using Kate on Windows. As a result I see no icons just text on unbordered buttons. My question is, how to configure Kate to automatically pick up icons ( I have found how to set individual icons for each button - it doesn't appear to work in any case) but what I am looking for is a complete installation of Kate complete with its default set of icons. I suggest that in the absence of a KDE theme it reverts to a set of default icons. Feedback requested, I could raise this as a bug. Your thoughts.

I uninstalled version 16.08.3, installed 17.08.1 and the icons appeared.
