Hi fellow F/OSS enthusiasts,
I am encountering an issue with Kate project plugin. It is supposed to autoload project yet the project panel of my editor remains desperately empty. I have tried a project_name.kateproject at the root of my project with this content :
I have read i can't remember where that the file should just be name .kateproject and I tried that too. I have set up a git repository and that didn't work either (yes the functionality is enabled in my settings). I'd like it to work because this software is according to me the best option for programming on linux (it has the best support/lean-"ess" ratio imh) and having the project file structure at hand is clearly a must-have. Having to switch to a file manager all the time is quite bugging some useful information about my system :

Wow. It's been almost a year and no responses...
I'm having the same problem with a new install of Kate v. 20.04.0 on Ubuntu 20.04.02. I have a repo using Mercurial for config mgt and I have the autoload buttons ticked. But when I open a file from the repo, Kate doesn't recognize the repo as a project. I have a different machine running Kate 18.12.3 on Ubuntu 19.04 that works just fine. Neither machine has a kate project file that I can find. I'm pretty new at this. Any help would be appreciated. |

Hi,
Apparently installing Kate through the Ubuntu Software app doesn't fully work. I managed to resolve this issue by removing Kate and re-installing it via the command line. Here are the steps I performed. I'm not sure all of them are necessary. 1. Use the Ubuntu Software app to remove Kate. 2. Searching for "Kate" in my Home directory and deleting any Kate-related files. 3. Opening a terminal and use "sudo apt remove Kate" to make sure Kate is fully removed. 4. Using "sudo apt autoremove" to make sure any additional Kate related packages are removed. 5. Using "sudo apt install Kate" to install Kate. |

Hi again,
Sorry to be polluting this board. As I posted earlier, I'm a newbie at this stuff and still figuring things out... Anyway, I just realized that by installing Kate from the command line, I installed version 19.12.3 and not version 20.04 that gets installed from the Ubuntu Software app. Everything works fine in 19.12.3 so the original problem appears to be a bug in 20.04. Sorry for any confusion my posts may have caused anyone. |

The first time this question asked 8 years agohttps://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=117831#p293877. Since those years NOBODY of KATE project or plugin creator was answer for this question. This plugin ABSOLUTELY NOT WORKING. Or "The Kate Handbook" or other tutorials are absolutely rubbish. This is a ridiculous. If you want to make a competition with other app do something with this.
Because, this plugin is ABSOLUTELY S..T. To show that I understanding what is wrote in KATE manual this is a step by step WHICH DOES'T WORKING. https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kate/kate/kate-application-plugin-projects.html Section Creating Projects |

Did you report this to the bug tracker? The forum is the wrong place for bug reports, please use https://bugs.kde.org if you want the developers attention.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
