I'm trying to set up an environment for KDE 4 development in an existing KDE 4.1.96 session. I've followed the instructions in the TechBase. I built KDE with my normal user account, and I'm now trying to nest a KDE 4 session using Xephyr, according to these instructions:

When I start KDE in the Xephyr session, I receive a number of errors, the most relevant of which is:

klauncher(7751) kdemain: Another instance of klauncher is already running!
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!


It seems that the instructions were targeted at users nesting KDE 4 in a KDE 3 session. With another KDE 4 session, the existing klauncher process is causing the start up to fail. Can anyone help me with this? How do others develop KDE 4 while running another installation of KDE 4? Thanks.

If you attach the Xephyr session to a new D-Bus session then this should elimnate the issue. as long as $KDEHOME is different.
