Getting started with Python + Qt

Wed Jun 17, 2009 11:01 pm
Hi All,

I have been considering picking up Python to program for KDE. I have had a look around and tried a few IDEs before deciding Eric should fit my plans; However I have no idea how to get it set up and ready for development.

Can anyone point me to a HOWTO or guide to Eric? Then maybe a guide to programming PyQt for Qt4? :)

Thanks,
Tom

That guide refers to qt3. Personally I recommend you this book.

I will second that recommendation; I haven't seen anything better for the (sadly under-documented) PyQt API. Well worth the investment.

There is very little documentation out there for Eric; I went through this tutorial: http://eric-ide.python-projects.org/tut ... index.html , and I found it helpful even though it was Windows-oriented. I don't think Eric really helps much if you don't already know a bit about working with PyQt.
