I am trying to run Amarot on my Windows 7, 64bit.But, when I run the executable...nothing happens.

Where should I start looking for issues?

When I run the "Appearance Settings" I get the following error,

are they inter-related?

Which installer did you use to install Amarok?
Do you see any "amarok.exe" processes running in Task Manager?

I am using installer(amarok-setup-2.5.0-1.exe) found form this page : http://amarok.kde.org/

Yes, on task manager list amarok.exe *32 shows up for a while, but after a few second later it disappears.

Done, but the result is same.

I uninstalled it formally. How else can I make sure that everything is removed?

Why Amarok is not generating any log file?

I'm actually experiencing the exact same issue... However, my version of Amarok 2.5.0-2 for Windows 7 was working just fine until today. It had been throwing an error or warning about Phonon not being initialized yet audio still functioned just fine.

I've tried uninstalling, running CCleaner, restarting, reinstalling... and no dice. Also tried the version that you can get through the KDE windows thing but that only gave the same result of when I double click the .exe it acts like it's starting up by indicating the working mouse icon but then nothing ever shows up... Any input would be appreciated...

I have the same issue...Amarok on Win 7 was working fine. It starts and shows as running in task mangler with the memory getting up to several hundred meg but a GUI interface never appears? Version amarok-setup-2.5.0-2.exe Downloaded from link in posts above?
Anyone have any clues to this. I love Amarok on my Linux box so I thought I would throw it on Win 7 also.

I am stuck with unmovable panes on the desktop as soon as I fire up amarock.
The main screen which you can unlock panes from will not appear.
Have removed and re-installed. Same results.

Sound plays ok but I cannot do much else with this app.

I also tried this with a different profile and that did not even load up at all, gave me a great warning with multiple errors on it.
Do you need to do an install per profile if you have more than 1 user on a PC ?

Another thing is that I cannot minimize the panels on the desktop.

Cannot upload picture via the img option using safari so have placed it to view here ..(does this work with anything else...will try later)

I was hoping to use amarock but so many issues.

Did you find any solution with not starting at windows 7? I have the same problem with 2.6.0 installer and 2.5.1 zip build and kde installer too...

I had the same problems as you describe here. I solved them by restoring the original host file in windows/system32/drivers/etc
I was using a custom host file to block ads. Maybe this is the cause of your problem too?
