Amarok performance problems in Windows

Amarok seems a great player but:
-It makes about 26 seconds to open on my Core2 Duo 3GHz PC with 4GB ram (the PC has just started and there are no other programs open)
-When it finaly opens, it is slow, sluggish and heavy
-It uses about 190MB memory with 4 processes open besides Amarok itself, when Clementine uses 33MB and foobar 14MB
-The installer is 87MB big

All above make this player, although it has a great potential, not competitive for Windows. Al least in my opinion.

Do I do something wrong, can it perform better?
Is there any plan for a normal size installer and for making the player lighter and quicker?
Thank you!

How many tracks do you put in your playlist? As for the delay on first start up: we are working on it. Now if we had more than just one developer for the windows build that could speed things up considerably...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thank you for quick reply!
In my playlist I usually put about 10-15 tracks.
But even if the playlist is empty and Amarok is not playing music, when I try to open some category in my Local Music tree or right click on some mp3s to choose "Replace Playlist" the response is very slow.
My collection has 4988 tracks.

That is indeed not much. I assume you use latest 2.6 build from our download page, don't you?

Yes, I use 2.6.0 from you download page (not with kde installer).
If you need a beta tester I could help.

Well, there currently is no beta for 2.7, but we will sure advise you if a newer build is available. I will ask our developer if there currently is a possibility to test the git instance.

Thank you, is there any roadmap for all these performance issues? Is there a plan for a small installer that is not dependent on kde processes?

Hello,

Great job of porting Amarok on Windows !
I agree with fbohr, windows based Amarok suffers from performance issues. Is it normal that Amarok lunch 5 instances of console host (conhost.exe) ?
Moreover when i quit the application, amarok forget to kill 3 console host process and the 4 KDE process plus the dbus daemon process.
I don't use others KDE programs, and i use windows 7 (64bits version).

Thank you ;)
Alva.

PS : Amarok create 5 or 6 conhost.exe process, it appears to be random. I have 2 others problems on starting the program (but Amarok still work properly after that).
A message box say that "GREPME MySQLe query failed (1034). Incorrect key file for table lyrics [...]" and an other message on my taskbar that say that my default playback device don't work. But i can listen music on Amarok anyway.

PS2 : i use the lastest version of Amarok

Thank you, I installed (arch) linux and run Amarok there. Start is slow (desktop is LXDE), but after that it performs great!
