Hi, I recently downloaded amarok 2.8, and I love the application a lot. You guys have made an awesome music player. I have rockbox on my 6th generation 160gb ipod, and it works great with amarok. I tried to use the equalizer, and it was greyed out. So, I looked up on the internet how to change that, and it says I need the phonon-gstreamer backend for amarok. I downloaded Gstreamer, and I'm running Windows 8. After I installed gstreamer, the equalizer was still greyed out, so I tried to change the backend of phonon to gstreamer, but the only backend I had was VLC. I thought that if I downloaded the new version of VLC the equalizer would work. This was not the case. So I opened up VLC, and I enabled VLC's equalizer hoping that it was somehow connected to amarok's eq. That didn't help either. Is there anything I can do to get amarok's eq to work on Windows 8? Do I need a different media player besides vlc to do so? Thanks, and sorry about the long post.

I am sorry but there currently is no phonon-backend-gstreamer on that platform. The phonon-backend-vlc will need libvlc to implement those functions, which sadly is currently not the case.
In other words, there is currently no possibility to use any of the gstreamer-related functions on Windows. FWIW: VLC is a standalone application that is independent of Amarok, what the phonon-backend uses is libvlc which is a library based on VLC, but it doesn't need VLC to run.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thank you for the response. Is there a possibility it will be implemented in a future release at all?

This does not depend on us but on the VLC guys to implement it in their library. Once the functionality is in the library, we can use it.
