Installed Amarok 2.8 fresh on Winodws 8 x64, ran as administrator first time, nothing shows up. My hosts file is empty and I disabled my firewall. DebugView gives

[8424] Warning:QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
[8424] Critical:unnamed app(8424): KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server: "Failed to get autolaunch address from launched dbus-daemon"

Can you check for the presence of "kdeinit4.exe" and "dbus-daemon.exe" processes in the process list?
If they are running, please kill them, then try again.

You should also verify that those executables are present somewhere within the Amarok installation directory.

I'm presuming you have rebooted since installing Amarok, and are using the shortcuts provided by the installer to launch it?

I tried launching it both ways, and yes, I've rebooted

Can you please provide a link to the build which you have installed on your system?

If you try to run Amarok in a terminal, does the following command work?
Code: Select all
amarok.exe --nofork --debug

Didn't do a thing. Just quit back to the prompt without printing any info.

In a terminal, does "ping localhost" work?

Okay, i'm afraid i'm out of ideas as to why Amarok is failing to launch on your computer unfortunately.
While it may not seem too relevant, I am assuming it does not work either under a new, unprivileged user?

Okay, that is unfortunate. We'll have to wait for the Amarok on Windows folks to look into this then i'm afraid.
