Amarok freezes on Windows 7

Tue Oct 22, 2013 7:24 am
Hello everyone.

For some time now I am not able to successfully run Amarok on Windows.

I performed clean installation choosing Amarok and everything installed just fine. Only Amarok does not play any music. When I try to access Phonon configuration from Amarok settings, Amarok freezes and eventually crashes.

From this I guessed, that there is problem with phonon or its backend, so I tried to find if vlc is installed (in KDE's bin folder) and running, which it is.

Can anyone recommend what to try next?

PS. I installed KDE compiled in MSVC with 32bit architecture. My computer has Windows 7 64 bit. KDE is in version 4.10.2. I run installer with Admin rights installing into default locations (C:\ProgramData\KDE).

Thanks for any input.

Hi could you please try the Amarok standalone installer (just for testing) http://community.kde.org/Amarok/Getting ... ad/Windows
Make sure to install it not into your KDE installation but a separate folder.

Cheers

Thanks.

I uninstalled KDE and used dedicated Amarok installer and it works perfectly.
