When I try to set a Replay Gain Mode via the settings menu, only the "Off" radiobutton is active, "Track" and "Album" are grayed out. Is it just not implemented yet or is there some way to make it work?
(This is Amarok 2.8.0 on Windows 7, I used the standalone installer. "About Amarok" says it's using KDE 4.11.00) |

FWIW, it was the same on arch linux when I tested it recently. The files in question have replay gain information. Maybe a bug?

I've been using Amarok on Debian for years and it worked. Not sure if it's still working on Debian, though.

Please file a bug here: https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=amarok
Might indeed be specific to Windows, Replay Gain works fine here on Kubuntu 14.10 @Soukyuu: please check you have your sound installed correctly, including Pulseaudio. If that doesn't help, please file a bug against your distro.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Are you using the VLC phonon backend?
ReplayGain is indeed not working with that one (missing feature AIUI), so try switching to gstreamer. (I don't think that's available on Windows though...) |

Good catch, wolfi323, I am indeed using the VLC backend.
Installing GStreamer, setting it as preferred backend and restarting amarok solved the issue. edit: shouldn't this matrix mention that? Or does that fall under "AudioDataOutput"? |

There seems to be a Windows installer for Gstreamer available for download. I will try to make that work with Amarok later today and report on the results.

AudioDataOutput is for getting the sound data that's played AFAIK, i.e. that's needed for the Analyzer. VolumeFaderEffect would probably be the one needed for ReplayGain I think. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323332
You'd need the gstreamer Phonon backend too. But it doesn't seem to be available for Windows: https://community.kde.org/Phonon/FeatureMatrix |

Seems like somebody made a patch back in 2009:
http://kde.6490.n7.nabble.com/Gstreamer ... 48289.html Not sure if this would still work. Or if I could even make it work. |
