I've got the new Amarok 2 Beta working fantastically in Windows using the KDE Windows Installer.  But, I can't seem to figure out how to add applets to the center bar.  I don't see any option to do so.  Right now I've just got a big blank space, and I'd love to get track info, wikipedia, etc...  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks!

Not quite sure how this worked in the beta (things change quickly at this point), but try to right-click that empty space in the middle.

Didn't seem to work for me.  This is my first experience with Amarok 2.  Used to use Amarok 1 with my Linux machine, but I've since switched to Gnome and I've tried my best to avoid Qt apps since then.  Anyway, it is nice to see that KDE 4 and Amarok are coming along.  I'm really impressed with how easy it was to get Amarok running on my Windows machine.  Reminds me of all the things I loved about KDE.  I just wish I could figure out how to get the center applets to work on my Windows box with Amarok 2.  :(

I am using linux and I cant get this to work either. I am sure it was working when i first installed beta 1 (dont recall later on with beta 1) but with beta 2 it doesnt work at all. Cannot find anything anywhere to get applets up. Tried deleting all configs in case it was something there. Tried unlocking widgets in plasma in case it was somhow linked but with no luck. Anybody have any ideas?

Asked how to do this in #amarok aswel. I got the following suggestions:

click the + sign - I dont have one anywhere.

right click an empty space in the window. should be "Add applet..." in the menu. - I am clicking in the big empty grey area in the middle and no menu what-so-ever pops up.

slightly to the left and at the bottom should be + - zoom < > - I dont have any of these.

Am using amarok 1.92. I am assuming that is amarok2 beta 2??

Any more ideas? or should i file a bug? any other info i can provide to find out where the problem is?

Ok, thanks for the screenshot. I've talked to our KDE-Windows expert, who immediately realised what's wrong. Here's what he said:

17:10 < SaroEngels> markey: he needs to install the appropriate kdebase-workspace package
17:10 < SaroEngels> I forgot the dependency
17:10 < SaroEngels> ;-)
17:11 < SaroEngels> markey: can you answer him that?

The whole of kdebase-workspace was installed during build. For fedora thats kdebase-workspace, kdebase-workspace-devel, kdebase-workspace-libs.

Any more ideas?

Thanks for your suggestions so far.

I'd venture the kde runtime didn't match what was used to build amarok2.  In particular for this case, amarok2 was built against kde-4.1.2, and only kde-4.1.1 (or earlier?) was installed.

Just updated to kde-4.1.2 and qt-4.4.3 and all is working as expected now.
